TRANSPORTATION LABORATORY
Ege University Civil Engineering Transportation Laboratory has the infrastructure to carry out all the tests in the 'Modified Bitumen Technical Specifications' published by the General Directorate of Highways. In the laboratory, low and high temperature performance classes (PG X-Y) of bituminous binders are determined by dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) in accordance with Superpave specification criteria. Short and long term aging processes of bituminous binders are carried out by means of rotating thin film heating oven (RTFO) and pressure aging vessel (PAV) devices. Bitumen modifications are carried out with the help of a high-speed mixer, and fluorescent light optical microscopes are used to examine the dispersion properties of the additive in bitumen after the modification processes. In addition, optimum bitumen amount and Marshall stability values of hot bituminous mixtures are determined by Marshall device. All the tests provided in the Ege University Transportation laboratory are given along with their standards (click here).
